Present perfect/continuous
Ciao a tutti, mi sto preparando per affrontare il ket. Vorrei chiedere la differenza tra il present perfect e il present perfect continuous. Grazie. Francesco.
The answer is in the word “continuous”: you use the present perfect continuous when you refer to a situation that continues in the present: I have been watching a lot of television recently (and I still am). With the present perfect, the action is complete, even if the time period isn’t over yet: I have watched a lot of television (this evening, in my life), I have just spoken to him on the phone (five minutes ago).
If the time period has finished, then we use the simple past: I spoke to him on the phone yesterday.
