Eurovision

Salve. Vi ho pizzicato for the second time this year: questa volta nella pronuncia “francese” della parola EUROVISION che Justin Ratcliffe legge come se fosse inglese in una frase interamente francese. A pag. 43 “A voice for Europe”, del numero di Maggio. Biagio Tringale.

When Justin Ratcliffe says “Eurovision Song Contest” he does so (correctly) with an English accent; the fact that his pronunciation of “Eurovision” in the French phrase is too British for your liking is a pity, but we don’t think it really qualifies as a mistake. Americans are doubtless irritated (or amused) by the fact that Italian reporters always pronounce Arkansas “Arkansas” (and not “Arkansaw”), but they probably accept the fact that that’s how Italians pronounce it!
