Reflexives
In ‘The horizon was tinged with red, and suddenly the sun appeared’ Is ‘was tinged’ a reflexive verb? Thank you. Giuseppe
That’s an interesting question, but the answer is no, as it would be “the horizon tinged itself.” I expect the problem is that to tinge is a false friend: it sounds like the Italian reflexive verb “tingersi (i capelli)”, which in English would be “to dye (one’s hair)”.
