Just, only

Mi aiutate a capire la differenza nell’uso di “just” e “only”? Daniela.

In some contexts the two are interchangeable, but not always. For example, I saw him just now (i.e. very recently) could be not substituted with “I saw him only now.” Similarly, the expression “If only I had listened to your advice” could not be substituted with “If just I had listened to your advice.”
