tongues This picture was taken in a bakery and pastry store(1) in the United States. As you can see, even mother-tongue English speakers are capable of making terrible mistakes. The correct word should be “tongs(2)”and not “tongues(3).” And, seeing as we’re talking about biscuits, the sign has an almost surreal element. Unless, of course, the store’s customers include ant-eaters(4)
